About the website

This website was started in 2011, as it was discovered that there was a lack of information about the Kitui region. The project has been a collaboration between the Norwegian organization Help to Self-Help in Africa, local authorities, the KICABA Cultural Center, the tour operator Flamingo Safari and local industry and businesses. The work on the site itself has been carried out by volunteers from Help to Self-Help in Africa.

The volunteers are three Norwegian students; Ingrid Vee, Linn Brandsvoll and Kristin Orset. The summer of 2011 they have been living in Katulani while exploring the Kitui County, collecting data and information for you tourists to enjoy.

As mentioned above, this project has been a collaboration between different instances. With their help these girls have gotten in touch with a lot of helpful people who have all contributed to the content of this page.

Hopefully, you will find all the information you need if you want to visit Kitui – either you’re a tourist in your own country or a foreigner. The Kitui region has a lot to offer! Increased tourism will benefit the whole region economically, and provide for further economic growth.
